She was murdered on the 27th of December 1985 at the Karisoke Research Centre and buried near Digit, her favourite gorilla. You will also have the chance to go gorilla trekking at Virunga amongst the lush volcanic slopes. This tour will start off in Kigali where you will visit the Genocide Memorial Centre and then on to the foothills of the Volcano to start your trekking adventure, visit the famous Dian Fossey Memorial and then a visit to the Iby Iwacu, a traditional village to learn about the local community’s way of life.
